Matthews Brothers & Men of Harmony

In sacred and classical music Ron and Gary Matthews are one of the most gifted and dynamic duet teams in North America.  They are duo vocalists, pianists, organists and trumpeters.  With this combination of superlative talent, these brothers bring to every concert a rare and uplifting musical experience, but most importantly a rich spirit of worship.

In addition to their renown concert careers, Ron and Gary are also highly respected as composers and conductors.  Dr. Ron Matthews is Professor of Music and Director of Music Programs at Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania and Pastor of Worship Arts at Church of the Savior in Wayne, Pennsylvania.  He served on the faculty of Nyack College, Nyack, New York and then for 10 years chaired the Music Department at Philadelphia Biblical University, Langhorne, Pennsylvania.  Ron earned his undergraduate degree in Church Music and Organ from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, New Jersey; his Master of Music Degree in Choral Conducting from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his Doctor in Composition and Conducting from Combs College of Music, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Ron and his wife Pamela, have two sons, David and Andrew.  They reside in Hatboro, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Gary Matthews is the Minister of Music and Worship at Christ Memorial Church in Holland, Michigan. He earned his undergraduate degree in Music Education and Organ from Temple University, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and his Masters Degree in Sacred Music from Combs College of Music, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He completed his Ordination Council at Highland Park Baptist Church, Southfield, Michigan.  Gary served on the faculty at Nyack College, Nyack, New York while ministering as Music Director at Calvary Memorial Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Gary and his wife Cindy, have three daughters, Jessica, Jodi and Jill.  They reside in Holland, Michigan.

Ron and Gary have released six recordings.  Their repertoire includes the major composers of all periods plus arrangements and compositions based upon hymn tunes, gospel and contemporary Christian songs.  The Matthews Brothers have given sacred concerts in churches of every denominations.  In addition, they have appeared at many Bible Conferences, revivals, crusades, conventions and banquets.  Christian colleges and universities invite them not only for their worshipful concerts but also for their outstanding Master Classes and Seminars in music and worship.

Men of Harmony

The Men of Harmony Men’s Chorus exists for the sole purpose of glorifying God through music. They seek to build up the body of Christ and reach those who seek Him with their distinctive ministry in song. For 37 years they have done this. So theirs is a rich heritage of stalwart men committed to this ministry with over 500 concerts in the Midwest, numerous recordings and supporting Christian organizations that broadcast far and wide the good news of Jesus Christ.

Though most of the group calls Sheboygan their home, the Men of Harmony draws men from the surrounding areas as well. The men represent at least 15 different churches and 10 different denominations, a true example of Christian men uniting to praise the Lord and minister in His name.

In addition to concert appearances in churches, nursing homes and Christian groups, the Men of Harmony support a number of Christian service projects. They financially support Christian radio Station WJUB with studios in Plymouth, WI. Each year they offer a four-year scholarship to a graduating high school member who commits to Christian music as a course of study. The crown jewel of their support is to sponsor the Gospel Music Wisconsin Concert Series that brings Christian artists to the Stefanie H. Weill Center for the Performing Arts in Sheboygan. Through the season nationally known Christian artists come with programs of exceptional quality that lift high the name of Jesus Christ.

This being our 30th year of bringing Christian concerts to Sheboygan, we do well to reflect and give thanks for the success we have enjoyed. Many of the most loved and well known Christian Artists have performed and shared their music with us., They are too numerous to mention, however, we are sure you can think of your favorite, and that person or group has been here. We hope this year may be as rewarding as they have in the past.
